This year’s Conference Theme - Doing It for The Culture; Black Maternal Health Matters

This year’s annual conference theme focuses on our heritage, our way of living, our dialect, what makes us-well us! We celebrate and empower those professionals and leaders in maternal and child health who reflect the diversity of experiences, cultures, and abilities of the people we serve. Sustainable leadership requires understanding, compassion, empathy and partnerships so as we delve into what drives our thoughts and way of life; we will foster a deeper understanding of who we are. Our values are reflected in who we raise up as leaders.

The goal is to cultivate innovative, creative, and resilient leaders who in turn use their talents to support healthy communities. This requires developing spaces that acknowledge, encourage, and promote the sustainably of authentic leadership. The culture of maternal health matters. Only thriving people can transform systems. This year, our annual conference will dive into how we all can, as good stewards of maternal health, play a vital part in ensuring positive maternal outcomes by enriching patient/family experiences by authentically engaging with families and communities; therefore, ensuring a sustainable, equitable future for all.

As maternal and child health (MCH) professionals, our purpose remains at the heart of every decision, collaboration, and initiative we undertake. This year, as we focus on intentional impact, we introduce our 2024 Black Maternal Health Conference theme: Doing It for the CULTURE. Mom.ME. has always believed that collaboration isn’t just about joining forces, but coming together with intent, direction, and vision to make an impact for communities.

The BMHC 2024 theme acknowledges a foundational concept: while we are powerful as individuals, our true strength is magnified through collaboration. It calls upon each of us in the MCH community to be deliberate about who we partner with and how we forge these relationships. Through this idea, we are choosing a path rooted in authenticity as we seek to amplify the voices of those we serve, understand power dynamics, and ensure that our joint efforts reflect genuine respect and mutual goals.
